Casino Promotions
Promotions:Casino Gravy
When I began traveling to casino games destinations, I took with me the same thrifty habits I’d developed over four decades of a patently frugal life. I’d always clipped grocery coupons to use at the supermarket. I scoured the newspapers daily to find sales and promotions. I bought entertainment-club books full of two-for-one dining and show discounts. “Free” has been my favorite word since childhood when I treasured the casino bonus prize at the bottom of the Crackerjack box. So it was second nature for me to search for bargains in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the other gambling venues.
Advantage of Casino Games Promotion
In those dizzying early years, I sped around like a whirling dervish, taking advantage of every promotion I could find. I used every coupon that was worth anything at all, entered every drawing, and collected as much free merchandise as the casinos would give me. I’d make a special trip to an outlying Online Casino Reports on a shuttle bus for a free spin on a roulette wheel. I made it a point to play even a Dice Games in casinos that awarded extras—logo caps, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, drawing entries, even six packs of pop— when you hit four deuces or four-of-a-kind or a royal.
I dragged Brad all over town to attend all the drawings I’d entered that required you to be present to win. Many was the time I forced myself to go down to a casino after a long day of running around so I’d be present at a drawing.
I scoured casinos looking for discarded funbooks, to the extent (much to Brad’s dismay) of looking in wastebaskets; I only drew the line at digging through half-eaten neteller mustard-laden trash. I’m not ashamed to admit it, poker because I still do it today if the pickin’s are ripe (the coupons, not the garbage). It’s not a casual thing to me to retrieve a funbook that contains $5- $10 worth of gambling coupons and some free merchandise thrown in. It’s not pennies that I’m eyeing garbage cans for; it’s bona fide dollar activity.
Importance of Online Promotions
From the very beginning, promotions have been as important to our style of play in Luxuary Machines as expert video poker strategy, slot clubs, and comps. They can give you a big boost in your climb to the higher levels of the gambling pyramid. Many times a good promotion can turn a negative-expectation game into a positive one. At the very least, capitalizing on promotions can cut your losses significantly.
The importance of promotions doesn’t stop at their cash-making potential, either. Brad has a thing for casino jackets. He has at least 50 logo jackets, six for every outfit he could possibly put together. He’ll even, on occasion, participate in a negative-expectation promotion (horrors!) if a chance to win a jacket is involved.
Promotions also account for a lot of the fun we have on the casino circuit. I’m going to play video poker anyway, so if the casino wants to give Brad a logo jacket to celebrate my hitting a royal flush, that’s just an easy extra. If I get entries into a drawing for a car by hitting four-of-a-kinds, that’s free action just for doing what I do. That’s why I like promotions:
they offer a financial and a psychological lift.
These days I’m not as fanatical as I used to be, so I’m a little more selective about the promotions in which I participate. But I still get the old zip when I find one that warrants the investment of my time and money.
Stalking the Wild PromotionWhere do you learn about poker promotions? You learn about promotions in so many different places that the best advice I can give is always to look everywhere. Read everything. Scan the local newspapers every day, then go back and whip through them again, looking for casino advertisements. Read the ads closely to see what’s going on. You might find that a casino is giving double points to slot club members during the Monday Night Football game, hoping to entice the women to play the slot machines while the men are watching football.
